CPD 2The CIPS Central London Branch is delighted to hold an interactive workshop session for students / professionals working towards their MCIPS qualification via the CIPS examination route (Level 4, 5 & 6).

This session will be in two parts:

Part One:
Irrespective of your method of learning, whether that is distance learning, self study, e-learning, attendance at a study centre, or something else, this session will benefit all students / professionals sitting CIPS examination(s).

This session will be lead by an experienced CIPS Tutor and will provide guidance on improving your approach to answering CIPS exam questions. Whilst the assessment guides are available on the CIPS website for your reference within the student zone section, to have an experienced CIPS Tutor deliver this session in person will prove invaluable, with the added benefit of meeting and networking with other like-minded individuals. You are not alone!

Part Two:
Are you aware of the ‘Journey of an Exam Paper’? What actually happens after you leave the examination centre? Do you know the full break down of the stages? Whilst this information is available on the CIPS website for your reference within the student zone section, to have an experienced CIPS Tutor briefly explain this in person will give you a better understanding and appreciation of the elements such as the timescales, rigor, robustness and quality standards that must be adhered to.

Overall, this will be an interactive workshop session not to be missed! If there is an appetite afterwards, please join us for informal networking drinks at a nearby establishment.

Please note CIPS members can earn CPD hours for attending this event.

Samlesbury Aerodrome has been at the centre of military aviation in the UK since the 1940s, with the Lancashire Enterprise Partnership currently developing the site as a centre of excellence for advanced engineering & manufacturing.CPD 2

The 165,000 sq ft Defence Logistics Centre has been designed and built for BAE Systems, whose advanced engineering and manufacturing facility sits adjacent to the new £10.8million development. Operated by logistics specialist Wincanton, who won the competitive tender and were awarded the logistics contract in July 2015, this is a Long Term Competitiveness Programme (LTCP) initiative to reduce cost by outsourcing Logistics and Transport to Industry specialists.

The purpose of this programmes is to realise significant savings over the first 10 years; provide a world-class logistics service, providing synergies and eliminating duplication; and will be integrated within a single ERP system.

The presentation will talk through this phased approach, including:

Optimisation of existing service at the current sites

Transition to a new centralised Defence Logistics Centre (DLC)

ERP integration, including track and trace technology

Standardisation of working practice and processes

Programmed change management, transformation and continuous improvement

Managing relationships through the contract lifecycle

“Entering into a long term agreement can be a really important decision for any business. In this session we will look at how to manage some key legal and commercial aspects of long term contractual relationships, including legal issues that arise at the start of the relationship (such as tender processes and due diligence), legal risk management, performance management, exit and retender. The session will be delivered by lawyers from Ward Hadaway with a wealth of experience in outsourcing and other long term contracts, and so the focus will be on how the procurement process and the content of the contract with a supplier can be used to reduce risks to your organisation and drive improved supplier performance. We will discuss a number of different procurement approaches and legal provisions that are aimed at helping businesses to manage their relationships with long term suppliers.”
