CPD 2The South Wales branch invites you to join us for an event which will focus on the topic of IT. There will be 2 presentations, the first from Matthew Perrott, an experienced procurement professional from the NHS in Wales, on tips around procuring IT Hardware, Software and Services (of often significant value and complexity) the Second, from John Davies who will give an informative talk around cyber threats and the work of the Cyber Security Cluster. 

Following the recent cyber-attack on NHS England Cyber Security has become a key priority in both the public and private sector. 

The cluster aims to support the Welsh Government's commitment to Cyber Security (and UK Government's Cyber Security Strategy) by building cyber security knowledge, skills and capabilities in the Region, to make businesses more resilient to cyber-attacks and the Region one of the most secure places in the world to do business.

Tea/Coffee and a Buffet will be provided for delegates.

CPD 2Within the context of challenging economic times, this session considers the increasing importance of creativity and innovation for organisational effectiveness. To look at what organisations need to do to establish the right culture and environment for creative and innovative thinking to flourish. Drawing on insights from recent neuro-scientific research and scientists’ growing understanding of Emotional Intelligence, to discuss how an individual’s thoughts, feelings and behaviours determine their ability to be creative and contribute to either a culture of innovation or a culture of bureaucracy, to ensure organisational effectiveness takes place. To consider the barriers and enablers of success and provide tips on what organisations need to do to ensure creative thinking is encouraged and harnessed in the right way in order to achieve competitive advantage and organisational effectiveness in a rapidly changing marketplace.

The Mersey Tunnel Tour will take you on a unique behind the scenes look at the famous Queensway Mersey Tunnel which opened in 1934.CPD 2

As well as learning about the construction of the tunnel, you will visit the original control room, see giant ventilation fans in action and go down to watch the traffic in the tunnel, deep below the city streets. You will be able to find out why the tunnels are so unique and also that they have featured in several Hollywood movies!

Please note that the tour is unsuitable for people with mobility, breathing and sight difficulties.

Please note: This is a members only event; members must register online via the CIPS website to be able to attend.  Those not registered will unfortunately not be able to attend the tour; a reserve list will be held in case of cancellations.

There will not be any refreshments available for this event.

Attendees must ensure that they arrive in plenty of time; the tour will commence promptly at 6pm, latecomers will not be able to attend the tour.
