Modern day slavery survey - views from the procurement community

Friday, August 04, 2017

From April 2016, businesses with an annual turnover of £36million were required by the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 to report on an annual basis the steps they have taken to ensure there is no modern slavery taking place in their supply chains.
In 2016 CIPS conducted a survey in the procurement community to gauge the level of understanding and preparedness for the Act. This found that one in five procurement and supply chain managers were unaware of the new rules and more than half reported that they lacked the skills necessary to deal with modern slavery.
One year on CIPS would like to understand what has changed and what further support procurement professionals need to comply with a law that not only affects businesses over this threshold, but smaller organisations too.
We would welcome your thoughts on this important issue. The survey should take no more than five minutes to complete.
At the end of the survey, you will be directed to additional resources and sources of information to help you develop your own statement and understand more about the scourge of modern slavery in our society.
